Job opportunities with the Outdoor Adventure Club

Guiding positions:

We are always interested in meeting awesome, experienced trip leaders who want to work in and around the San Francisco Bay area, Yosemite, Lassen, Sequoia and Kings Canyon Parks.

Scheduling can be occasional, up to consistent work every weekend, depending on the experience, skills, training,  desires, and abilities of the applicant. Applicants who have a variety of skills, experience and want to work every weekend, year round are ideal for our program.

Appropriate technical skills and experience with the trails, crags, peaks, and parks where we offer trips are required, but most importantly is a passion for sharing the outdoors with others and an ability to deliver great experiences to Outdoor Adventure Club guests.

Backpacking Guide (Weekends, 1-2 weekend trips/month)

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience leading backpacking trips for adults
  • Knowledge of backpacking trips in Yosemite, Kings Canyon, Sequoia, Lassen and Pt Reyes National Parks
  • Valid Wilderness First Aid training required
  • Be available one to two weekends each month,  Spring through Fall.
  • Must be able to get to trailheads in advance of trip (if a trip officially starts on Saturday morning, our guests arrive on Friday evening, and our guides need to be there mid day Friday)

Multi-Sport Guide (Weekends, 3-4 weekends/month, year round)

Rock climbing, hiking and backpacking guides needed. The ideal candidate will have guiding experience in:

  • rock climbing
  • hiking
  • backpacking
  • mountain biking
  • backcountry skiing
  • valid Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder training required

Rock Climbing Guide (Weekends, 1-2 weekends/month)

The ideal candidate will have rock climbing  guiding experience, and:

  • AMGA SPI or similar
  • Experience leading rock climbing outings
  • Wilderness First Responder preferred, Wilderness First Aid mandatory
  • Knowledge of local climbing areas, including Cragmont, Castle Rock, Pinnacles, Consumnes.

Day Hiking Guide (Weekends, 3-4 weekend days/month)

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience leading hiking trips for adults
  • Knowledge of hikes in the Bay Area
  • Valid Wilderness First Aid training required
  • Be available one day each weekend in Spring through Fall, every other weekend in Winter

Administrative/Guide positions:

Operations Manager/Guide (Full time with guiding on weekends or Part time, no guiding)

Responsibilities: Developing and scheduling trips, trip logistics, facilitating
great trips and classes, social media and marketing, gear maintenance, client communication,
hiring and training guides, and managing all other aspects of the Outdoor Adventure Club.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous guiding experience with a similar program
  • Wilderness First Responder and CPR (minimum requirements)
  • Administrative, marketing, and customer service experience with a similar program
  • Experience with trip logistics and planning
  • Knowledge of the permitting processes (preferred)
  • Excellent communication and computer skills
