COVID 19/ Coronavirus Update

Updated June 30, 2020. This page will be updated as new information is made available.

We have started operating outdoor trips again. We have looked at each type of trip individually, looked at the risks of exposure in each type of trip, identified areas where we can reduce the risk of exposure, and made decisions about operating those trips.

The health and safety of our staff, our participants and those we may contact continue to be our highest priority.

We have looked closely at the guidance provided by the CDC, The White House, the State of California, local jurisdictions and neighboring states as well.

Using that guidance, we have developed our COVID-19 Guidelines. Our guidelines focus on five key areas:

  • Pre-screening of guests
  • Smaller group sizes
  • Social distancing as possible on trips
  • Mask use
  • Increased hand hygiene

Here are links to our guidelines, pre-screening questionnaire, and Covid Release form. We encourage you to take a look at the guidelines so you know what to expect on trips, and to help you make your best decisions about joining a trip.

We have commercial use/special use permits in many State and National Parks, USFS land and BLM land.  Some of our permits to bring people into these public lands continue to be suspended. It is possible that parks will open to the general public before we are able to operate in those parks. We appreciate your patience as we await permission to operate in those areas.

If you have reserved a spot on an outdoor trip or class:

When we have to reschedule a trip due to Coronavirus impacts, you will have the option to either reschedule, get a credit for future OAC trips, or get a refund.

If you are considering registering for an outdoor trip or class:

We encourage you to sign up and start making plans to attend. We have temporarily modified our cancellation policy so you can cancel or reschedule your reservation with no penalty.
