AIARE Avalanche Classes in Lassen National Park

You’ll get more from your AIARE avalanche course with the Outdoor Adventure Club than anywhere else.

Small class sizes. Personalized instruction from passionate instructors. Unparalleled access to your instructor after hours. Expansive terrain choices.

All AIARE avalanche classes start with the same curriculum, but your learning experience will vary with the course provider and instructor for your class. The benefits of taking your AIARE avalanche class with the Outdoor Adventure Club are easy to see, if you take a look.

Do you want to learn in a small class? Receive personal attention from your instructor? Do you want practical, hands-on field days?  Do you want an option that doesn’t require taking a day off of work? Do you want a class emphasizing trip planning and route finding, two skills that you’ll need when you are applying your knowledge on your backcountry ski trips? Would you like to have access to over 10,000 acres of ski terrain? You get all this with an Outdoor Adventure Club AIARE  avalanche course at Lassen National Park.

You’ll receive an AIARE certificate at the end of any AIARE course, but you’ll get a better education when you choose the Outdoor Adventure Club for your AIARE avalanche course.

You’ll be in a class with fewer students. Our classes typically have 4- 6 students. Our biggest classes, typically on holiday weekends, have a maximum of 12 students.  You won’t get lost in the crowd in our avalanche classes. Your questions will be answered. You’ll be able to get clarifications on topics you don’t understand. Your instructor will be able to focus on your needs and your questions.

In addition to the personal attention and unparalleled contact with your instructor you’ll receive during the course,  you also have the option of staying with your instructor in our house during your course. You can use dinner time in the house to discuss topics that you thought were confusing, and discuss observations and plans over breakfast.  You can exchange ideas with the other students in the class, as well. You’ll come away from the class learning, not just being taught.

Our permit zone is the entire Lassen National Park. On our courses we focus on terrain easily accessible from the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center. We have roughly 10,000 acres or 16 square miles of great ski terrain to choose from!

The Outdoor Adventure Club is an AIARE Course Provider, offering AIARE 1, AIARE 2 and Avalanche Rescue courses.

We also offer custom, private AIARE avalanche courses for you and your group. Contact us for more information.
